A senior Afghan Taliban commander — who served as a shadow governor for greater than a dozen districts in Afghanistan’s jap Nangarhar province — has been killed by Afghan safety forces, provincial officers advised VOA.
Attaullah Khogyanai, provincial spokesperson for jap Nangarhar province, advised VOA that Gul Mohammad Sangari, was killed Thursday in Nangarhar’s Surkhrod district throughout an evening raid by the Afghan safety forces.
Khogyanai stated Sangari was within the Surkhrod district to plan terror assaults within the space. He was with two different militants and wished to flee when Afghan forces engaged him.
The opposite two militants have been taken into custody and are below investigation.
Taliban haven’t but reacted to the killing of Sangari.
Surkhrod is positioned near Nangarhar’s capital metropolis, Jalalabad. The district is taken into account strategic due to its proximity to the capital metropolis. The safety state of affairs of the district has deteriorated in current months.
