China Permits Detention in 'Education and Training Centers'

China’s northwestern area of Xinjiang has revised laws to permit the detention of suspected extremists in “training and coaching facilities.”

The revisions revealed Tuesday come amid rising worldwide concern over a harsh crackdown in Xinjiang that has led to as many as 1 million of China’s Uighurs and different Muslim minorities being held in internment camps.

Chinese language authorities deny the internment camps exist however say petty criminals are despatched to vocational “coaching facilities.” Former detainees within the camps say they had been pressured to denounce Islam and profess loyalty to the ruling Communist Social gathering.
